ENERGIZER SHOP IN THE DARK 2017 GOES VIRTUAL IN ITS SECOND YEAR!
Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ invites shoppers to challenge the dark in a virtual reality hypermarket and be in the running to win a shopping spree worth RM3,500!

This is fun, get your shopping carts and Energizer headlamps ready because the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign in partnership with MYDIN, is back for its second consecutive year!

Following the overwhelming response from last year’s Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign, Energizer in partnership with MYDIN is once again organizing the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ for its loyal fans and MYDIN shoppers who will be in the running to win a shopping spree worth RM3,500!

Last year’s campaign comprised of a series of Dark Room challenges at selected MYDIN stores located in five states across Peninsular Malaysia – Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Johor. In these challenges, shoppers were required to shop in the dark for a list of items within a stipulated time limit, showcasing the power of the Energizer Max batteries which is now 8x longer lasting. The participants with the highest scores at each roadshow were then invited to participate in the grand finale of the Energizer ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign at MYDIN USJ, Subang Jaya.

This year, to reach out to a wider audience of shoppers and Energizer users across the nation, Energizer is offering three different methods of entry submissions which include:
1) Onground roadshows (starts on 5 May)
2) Mail-in entries (starts on 1 April) and,
3) Facebook contest (starts on 1 April).

The Dark Room roadshows introduce a new virtual reality (VR) twist to the challenge this year as shoppers will be shopping in the dark through a VR machine. Shoppers who are interested to participate through the roadshows or mail in entry are required to provide a proof of purchase with a minimum of RM10 worth of Energizer or Eveready products.

“So many shoppers enjoyed last year’s event which was why we are bringing it back this year with three different methods of participation. The new virtual reality ‘Shop In The Dark’ challenge at selected MYDIN outlets offers an entirely different experience of shopping in the dark. Shoppers will enter our virtual store with a list of items to look for within a fixed time. This will be a whole new experience of shopping in the dark for the eyes and ears. With our Energizer Max batteries which is now 8x longer lasting, we are certain you can find your way,” shared Mr. Lee Kim Chye, Energizer’s Business Director (Malaysia and Singapore).

“MYDIN is thrilled to be collaborating with Energizer once more for this fun and interactive campaign for our shoppers and Energizer’s users. MYDIN and Energizer have been working very closely for more than 30 years and the ‘Shop In The Dark’ campaign continues our long-standing business partnership in a way that everyone can enjoy.” says Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin, Managing Director of MYDIN, the largest and one of the most established Malaysian-owned retailers involved in wholesale and retail business.

Types of Allergy Tests
Typically, your doctor or an allergist may identify your triggers through several different allergy tests.
  • Skin testing – most widely used to find what is causing your allergies. Different methods may apply, but each one involves exposing your skin to small amounts of substances to observe your reaction over a period of time.
  • Blood tests to measure the presence of IgE antibodies that are specific to allergy triggers. Your body produces antibodies to fight allergens, or invaders.
  • Other tests the allergist may perform will eliminate certain allergens from your environment. At some point, they are reintroduced to see if you have a reaction.
Common Food Allergies
If eating, inhaling or coming into contact with certain foods causes a sensitive reaction, you could be allergic to those foods. Exposure to even tiny amounts of allergens in the foods can bother you. Some reactions to the allergens can range from very mild to life-threatening.
An increase in food allergies has occurred over the last 10 years. This is largely attributed to tree nut and peanut allergies. In addition, other common food allergies for adults may include:
  • Crustaceans such as crabs, lobster, shrimp)
  • Fish

Treatments for Allergies
Generally, no cure for allergies exist. However, there are several over-the-counter and prescription medications that can treat symptoms that annoy you. Containing antihistamines and decongestants, these allergy drugs can help to ease runny noses and decongestion. Other drugs that may also be helpful contain corticosteroids.

Some common over-the-counter allergy medications are Zyrtec, Benadryl, Claritin, Allegra and Dimetapp. Your doctor may prescribe Clarinex or Xyzal for oral consumption. You may also receive prescriptions for a nasal antihistamine spray and antihistamine eye drops.

Also available are allergy shots. Gradually, your ability to tolerate allergens increase when you receive these shots regularly.

People who have a history of serious reactions to allergies may be prescribed an injector known as an EpiPen. If your doctor or allergist prescribes this for you, it is a good idea to carry at least two with you at all times. An immediate injection will ease your allergic reaction after exposure to an allergic substance.
